CELESTIAL VIEW
This shot is St. Peter's Church in the centre of Bolton. A 15th century church was demolished on this site and the present one was constructed between 1867-71. Peter Ormrod, a cotton spinner living in Halliwell Hall paid for it, at a cost of £40,000. The tower is 180 feet high. The earliest entry in the register of the original church was dated January 21st 1587. |
