Green Alkanet
Pentaglottis sempervirens

This shot was taken within the grounds of Warblington Cemetery in Hampshire. Green Alkanet is a bristly perennial plant and its stems are branched with a rosette of stalked leaves at the base. The bright blue flowers have white scales in the mouth of their petal tubes and hang in clusters.
Green Alkanet grows in damp or shaded places such as open woods, woodland margins, hedges and cultivated land, often close to buildings.
