THE CRAZY 365 BIT...

This is where, as from the 1st May 2010, I shall be taking an image a day.
Not for one second am I expecting this area to contain any masterpieces, it's more of an ongoing project and, in some respects, a bit of photographic discipline

layers

Monday 28th February 2011 - 'Layers'

A sliced onion left to dry out a little.

3RB

Sunday 27th February 2011 - '3RB'

Three red bricks stacked on top of each other in our garden.

intoxicated

Saturday 26th February 2011 - 'Intoxicated'

Tanya's brother and I took a special trip over to 'Bitter Virtue', an off-licence in St. Denys, a suburb of Southampton. The main reason was to purchase tickets for the Winchester Real Ale & Cider Festival at the end of next month.

Upon entering the shop, another reason soon became apparent...

leek end

Friday 25th February 2011 - 'Leek End'

Are we all ready for it? After all, it is Friday! Simple shot of the end of a leek, with the colours saturated a little more.

BEN

Thursday 24th February 2011 - 'BEN'

I wanted today's shot to be poignant, for it marks both a date and a milestone. It's my son Ben's sixth birthday today and it's my 300th shot of 365.
I suddenly became inspired, since a 'B' is 3 points in Scrabble, whilst blanks are nothing... 300 covered.
The 'B' is on a double letter score, scoring six points in total which matches up with how old Ben is today.
Lastly, and I don't want any sympathy here, if you were to swap the two blanks with the actual letters, 'E' and 'N' they would score a further two points... add those to the three of the letter 'B' and sadly, that's how long it's been since I've seen him, but that's another story.

stardom

Wednesday 23rd February 2011 - 'Stardom'

Not a big fan of ornaments AT ALL... however, this is cool enough to hang around and collect dust...

tipping the balance

Tuesday 22nd February 2011 - 'Tipping The Balance'

Weighed myself for the first time in ages... wishing I hadn't! Think I'll stop eating altogether and just concentrate on ale drinking instead...

stigma and anthers

Monday 21st February 2011 - 'Stigma and Anthers'

The male and female reproductive parts of any flower, in this case, a Lily.

alienated

Sunday 20th February 2011 - 'Aliented'

I thought the amount of Black-headed gulls sat on the edge of this boat was comical... and then when I noticed the solitary one bobbing about on the water, it made for a perfect story of alienation...

a shade strange

Saturday 19th February 2011 - 'A Shade Strange'

The reflection of the window sill, window and garden in our metallic kitchen blinds.

butser from buriton

Friday 18th February 2011 - 'Butser from Buriton'

It was misty/foggy for the majority of today, helping create some lovely recessions in the landscape. This shot was taken from the outskirts of the beautiful village of Buriton, looking across to Butser Hill, the highest point in Hampshire.

invincible

Thursday 17th February 2011 - 'Invincible'

A straight shot of a pint of Irving's 'Invincible'. I went to see Malcolm at the brewery today and couldn't resist a four-pint tipple of one of my favourite beers brewed by him... anyone else think that the bubble distribution looks distinctly like the shape of Cornwall?

YKK

Wednesday 16th February 2011 - 'YKK'

The zip on the front pouch of my Adobe rucksack.

lamina

Tuesday 15th February 2011 - 'Lamina'

Close up of a lamina (the expanded portion or blade of a leaf) from the bouquet of flowers I bought Tanya yesterday.

all you need is...

Monday 14th February 2011 - 'All You Need Is...'

Straight shot of the card I bought Tanya for Valentine's Day. She did buy me one too, which was fab as well... it was the colours of the one I bought her that drew me in.

the king and queen

Sunday 13th February 2011 - 'The King and Queen'

Okay, I know there isn't a King and Queen in sight. It's on a corner in Emsworth, Hampshire where King Street and Queen Street meet.

solent saunter

Saturday 12th February 2011 - 'Solent Saunter'

This couple and their dog were enjoying a stroll along the Millennium Walk in Portsmouth this afternoon. The strip of land in the background is the Isle of Wight and the expanse of water is The Solent.

seafarer

Friday 11th February 2011 - 'Seafarer'

Managed to capture this shot in Emsworth, Hampshire, just before the daylight totally disappeared.

light out

Thursday 10th February 2011 - 'Light Out'

Another shot spotted where I freelance. The cover of this fluorescent light had been removed, ready for a tube to be replaced.

flue

Wednesday 9th February 2011 - 'Flue'

Spotted this where I freelance. I've since found out that it's a solid fuel flexible liner, made by the Docherty Chimney Group (riveting eh?)

switch off

Tuesday 8th February 2011 - 'Switch Off'

Our landing light switch taken using a shallow depth of field to create something a little different.

not in service

Monday 7th February 2011 - 'Not In Service'

An almost abstract shot of our garden hose.

three beer bottles

Sunday 6th February 2011 - 'Three Beer Bottles'

'White Wing' 4.0% ABV by the Hammerpot Brewery, 'Resolute' 4.1% ABV by the Andwell Brewing Company and 'Special' 5.0% ABV by Sharp's Brewery... not that you can tell what they are.

tempestuous

Saturday 5th February 2011 - 'Tempestuous'

The weather and waves were something else down on Southsea sea front at high tide this afternoon.

old yarn

Friday 4th February 2011 - 'Old Yarn'

Spotted this in Tanya's sewing box... looks really old! May have to do an internet search and see if Dewhurst's still exist.

petioles

Thursday 3rd February 2011 - 'Petioles'

A petiole is a stalk that joins a leaf to a stem and there are six of them here on our Mexican Fortune Tree.

flan attack

Wednesday 2nd February 2011 - 'Flan Attack!'

Whilst walking past the fresh cake section in Morrisons this afternoon, I was brutally attacked by a bloodthirsty flan. It threatened me with my life and suggested I bought it, otherwise I'd suffer an endless amount of shit. Naturally, I obliged, being the gentleman that everyone knows and has come to love.

alliance

Tuesday 1st February 2011 - 'Alliance'

And here I witnessed the joining of two forks. Long may they live together in culinary heaven.
